Meet Steve
Steve Winter moved to New Haven in 2007. After being falsely arrested in 2010, he organized with others who experienced police misconduct to enact police reform. That led him to public service, organizing for affordable housing and voting rights.
As a New Haven Alder for five years, Steve increased resources for public education and youth services. He took action on affordable housing, safer streets, and climate change. He now serves as Executive Director of Climate and Sustainability in Mayor Elicker’s office, leading environmental initiatives that meet residents’ immediate needs.
Steve is dedicated to improving his neighbors’ lives and ready to represent Hamden and New Haven in Hartford.
